![]() But as a lifelong loyal PC user, my willingness to use Apple products hangs by a thread. Generally I try to avoid sounding like a "demanding" person who considers software features entitlements and takes them for granted. Easier to just have the library build from scratch over and over again once a week or once a month. Updating it after every single new CD is out of the question - each CD goes into a totally different location, so tracking all of the individual new additions separately is more trouble than it's worth. I am ripping and tagging my 1200 CD collection right now, and currently I must wipe out my iTunes library and add it all over again whenever I want to update it. ![]() This is nothing short of archaic and absurd for software that has been around for a decade. Everyone knows that Apple's solution here is unacceptably inadequate and is actually kind of egotistical (all media must revolve around Apple software, while other software titles actually accommodate the user's needs). Users would have to buy much larger hard drives to accommodate all of the duplicated media, not to mention how inconvenient it would be to make changes to the library, having to update multiple sources for every change. Imagine if Plex required everything be put into Plex's own proprietary folder, and if picture viewing software required the same of your photos. Not only would this require that I completely rebuild my Plex library (which is not as easy as it sounds as I've manually changed the titles and sort titles of almost everything in my collection), I have a huge problem with this whole general idea anyway, as I think anyone should. Unfortunately, Apple apparently requires that I move my entire media collection to the cumbersome folder:Ĭ:\Users\\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Automatically Add to iTunes ![]() ![]() This is super basic functionality for any software that claims to be a media library. When I use any other media library system such as Plex, Winamp, Media Monkey, etc., ALL of these software titles allow me to specify a folder of my choiceand have the software monitor that folder for new additions, automatically adding new files/folders to the library. ![]()
